Native American Basket Weaving

Join Lorene Sisquoc to be introduced to the world of basket weaving arts. Participants will learn to identify and prepare materials for weaving, use traditional and modern weaving tools, and begin weaving baskets. Sisquoc will share two weaving techniques, the deer grass bundle with Juncus wrap and the round reed creekside basket. While weaving, she will explain the traditional uses for baskets, play Native American music and tell stories from her Native American culture. There will be a potluck lunch both days, bring a dish to share and eating utensils. All weaving materials will be provided.
