Indulge your creativity with a day of painting in Joshua Tree National Park. Participants will be immersed in the desert landscape to inspire originality and learn the observational skills that are essential to painting nature. Anahita King, artist and instructor, will help students shift the desert scenery to paper with watercolor paint. Participants will learn basic methods for transforming nature into art through techniques that maintain color clarity and high quality value differences with glazes, washes, wet-on-wet, and dry brush. Learn how the characteristic transparency of watercolor painting brings landscapes to life by allowing light to pass through the film of paint and reflect back off the white paper to give brightness and sparkle to the artwork that matches the sunlit desert environment. This pleasant non-intimidating class provides ample time to relax, investigate and paint. Participants need to bring their own art supplies.
