JTNPA Beneath the Desert Sky Benefit Concert

Joshua Tree National Park Association, in partnership with Pappy + Harriet’s, is pleased to announce the 2023 Beneath the Desert Sky Concert - a night of music curated by David Catching, owner of Rancho de la Luna Studio in Joshua Tree, to benefit our beloved Joshua Tree National Park.

The Beneath the Desert Sky series began in 2021, with two successful concert fundraisers in June and July of that year. This year, the concert will be held on August 19 ,2023, from 7:00-10:00 PM at the world-famous Pappy + Harriet’s.

Featuring Mojave Lords and Friends, Flames of Durga, and C’est Claire – all local musicians, bringing the love for an epic night of music and togetherness for the worthiest of causes.

Mojave Lords was born at Rancho De La Luna recording studio in Joshua Tree California in 2014 when Bingo Richey and David Catching decided to put a band together. Along with help from Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Tuatara, Walking Papers), Brian O’Connor (EODM), Gene Trautmann (QOTSA, EODM), Chris Goss (Masters of Reality), Christopher Thorn (Blind Melon), and more, they birthed a new wave of Desert Stoner Rock.

Rancho De La Luna recording studio in Joshua Tree, California was founded in 1993 by Fred Drake and David Catching. Since Drake's death in 2002, the studio has been operated solely by David Catching. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the legendary studio, which has hosted musical luminaries such as Iggy Pop, Joe Walsh, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, PJ Harvey, Alain Johannes, Mark Lanegan, and countless others. Follow @ranchodelalunastudio on Instagram for upcoming events and special releases.

Identical twin sisters Béah and Cecilia Romero founded Flames of Durga, a female- fronted rock n' roll trio known for electrifying live performances that include backbends, harmonies, driving riffs, thunderous drums, and femme-powered howls. Surviving a near- death car crash, the Romero sisters named the band after Durga, the fire goddess from Hindu mythology who embodies fierce feminine power. Their self-titled debut album, produced by Dave Catching and recorded at Rancho de la Luna studio, features their latest single "Alpha Woman" and is due out on March 24th. Based in Joshua Tree with drummer Nate Million, Flames of Durga promises to leave listeners hungry for more.

C’est Claire is the nom de plume for singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Claire Wadsworth, a California high desert resident and owner of the highly acclaimed Flamingo Heights restaurant,
La Copine.

It is going to be another unforgettable night for a worthy cause Beneath the Desert Sky!
