Desert Bighorn Sheep Surveying Program

Desert Life

The funds from JTNPA will allow researchers to coordinate surveys for bighorn sheep. This research includes helicopter time as well as ground searching to ensure that critical habitats in the park are protected from disturbance. Researchers will arrange for the gathering of data and biological samples which will be used to monitor bighorn in Joshua Tree National Park as well as supplementing regional bighorn data. This data will provide insights on how the park can protect bighorn populations across the Mojave Desert.
