Volunteers are often needed to help with public events sponsored by Joshua Tree National Park Association, work in our Visitor Centers, and assist behind the scenes with inventory and office support. Volunteer for the Desert Institute

Our Desert Institute field study courses and lecture series rely on volunteers to keep them running smoothly. To find out about volunteer opportunities with the Desert Institute, please contact us at (760) 367-5539(760) 367-5539 or chris@joshuatree.org or desertinstitute@joshuatree.org.

Our next Field Class Representative training program has not yet been scheduled. This program covers the role of the Desert Institute Field Class Volunteer, Risk Management and Emergency Protocols, Radio Communication Protocols, First Aid, and CPR Training. “Lead” Field Class Representative training has not yet been scheduled, is for experienced Desert Institute volunteers. All training programs take place at the Black Rock Canyon Campground Conference Room in Yucca Valley (9800 Black Rock Canyon Road).
